A woman has been found dead near a community centre in Greenwich.

The woman, who police are currently working to identify, was found on Kidbrooke Park Road at around 17:30 yesterday evening (September 18).

A man was arrested on suspicion of her murder later that same day.

Officers stormed an address in Lewisham at around 21:20 that evening and arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

He is currently in custody in a south London police station.

Greenwich Police tweeted last night: "Police are on scene in Kidbrooke Park Road, Greenwich after call at 17:32hrs to body of a female found near community centre. Officers are working to identify the deceased & inform next of kin.

"A man was arrested around 21:20hrs at an address in Lewisham on suspicion of murder & is now in custody at a south London police station.

"A number of crime scenes are in place & enquiries are ongoing. Call 101 ref CAD 5747/18 Sept if you have info that could help police."
