Large fire at National Grid near Ashford site affecting Eurostar services – live updates

Fire crews are battling a blaze at a National Grid site near Ashford.

12 fire engines attended the scene in Sellindge at it's height over night with a large presence remaining in place this morning (September 15).

The fire is near the Eurostar train lines with morning services being affected.

Kent Fire and Rescue service have warned that local residents may experience a dip in water pressure as a result of the fire.

Fire-fighters used compressed air foam to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings.

A statement on Eurostar's Twitter page said: "due to the fire near the track between Ashford and the Tunnel our services will be affected this morning and we are awaiting more information.
