Emma Raducanu will make history tonight when she becomes the youngest British tennis player to ever play in the US Open final.

The 18-year-old from Kent will be taking on Canadian Leylah Fernandez with the support of the entire country.

The decision to show the final on Channel 4 will enable millions of Brits to cheer on Emma.

If the teenager wins on Saturday night, she will become the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title in 44 years.

Raducanu, ranked 150th in the world, is facing fellow teenager Fernandez in a final nobody would have predicted a fortnight ago.

The 18-year-old has had to come through three rounds of qualifying and has yet to drop her set in a unimaginable couple of weeks.

Raducanu will have the support of the entire nation tonight

Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said: "We didn’t know we’d secured the deal until late on Friday night and so many people have gone above and beyond to make it happen.

"But Channel 4 is all about finding ways to let our viewers share great national moments, whether it’s Bake Off or big sporting events like the cricket World Cup final or US Open final.

"Emma’s meteoric rise to secure a place in the US Open Final is just sensational.

"We’re glad to have worked with Prime Video and pulled out all the stops to get it on air and I’m sure viewers will be thrilled at the prospect of watching Emma in this Grand Slam final.”

The coverage will start at 8pm

The agreement means Channel 4 will take Amazon Prime's live feed and broadcast it free to air on Channel 4.
