The whereabouts of the cow which caused major delays on the M25 has been confirmed.
The animal brought the motorway to a complete standstill for around 20 minutes just after 9am this morning (September 9).
Despite being situated on the anticlockwise side of the road, traffic was held in both directions.
It was later announced that the cow was removed from the road and all lanes were soon reopened.
However, one burning question remains – what happened to the cow?
Highways England has confirmed to KentLive that the cow entered the M25 after leaving an adjacent field.
This was between junction 5 and 6 near Godstone in Surrey, but the backlog of traffic was felt throughout Kent.
Traffic officers worked alongside the farmer to return the cow back into the field, before the carriageways were reopened at 9.23am.
While some people were able to see the funny side to this, many drivers were frustrated by the backlog of traffic.
One person wrote on Twitter: "Standstill traffic M25 junction 6, what’s happened?"
Another added: "There are animals just chilling on the M25…just my luck."
"I’m in standstill traffic on the M25 for the first time," another wrote.
"I was just talking about this the other day, how I’ve never been in standstill traffic!"
