A Northfleet doctors' surgery has been hammered by local residents who insist the practice is the 'UK's worst GP surgery'.

Springhead Health, was previously ranked as the 7th worst rated GP surgery in Kent according to a patient survey,

Now, an increasing number of vocal and frustrated users are keen to air their grievances with the practice in public.

According to the official GP Patient Survey, the standards at Springhead are well below the county-wide and nation-wide averages for patient satisfaction.

The surgery has been rated by patients poorly almost across the board – with many taking issue with how difficult it is to get an appointment and difficulties with phone lines.

KentLive reached out to Springhead Health for comment on the issues raised. They responded to the request but were unable to provide one at time of publication.

The crux of patients' issues seem to lie in being able to contact and be seen by their preferred GP – with just 16 per cent of 103 survey respondents saying they were able to see their preferred doctor when they would like to.

This shapes up pretty poorly in comparison to Kent's local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – the local authority governing NHS services in the county – where on average 48 per cent of patients said they could see their doctor when they wanted to.

It's also well below the national average of 45 per cent – but Springhead scores significantly below the local and national average for patient satisfaction across the board.

Just 22 per cent find it easy to get through to the practice by phone, compared to 59 per cent across Kent and 68 per cent nationally, whilst just 30 per cent described their experience of making an appointment as 'good', compared to 71 per cent nationwide.

This issue appears to be largely on the booking and administrative side, rather than the treatment side, however, where Springfield scores highly.

Some 89 per cent of patients at Springhead Health said they had confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to, 88 per cent felt their needs were met by their last appointment, and 83 per cent said their healthcare professional understood their mental health needs.

However, patients have taken to Facebook to air their frustrations at Springhead Health centre in Northfleet, starting a public group to draw attention to the issues many have reported at the surgery.

The group, 'Springfield Health Northfleet, UK's worst GP Surgery' has amassed 358 members since it was founded on September 1 2021, just a week ago at time of writing.

The group is full of complaints from patients and locals who have been left underwhelmed by their experiences.

One patient, Mark, stated that he'd been left on hold for 5 hours, having been told he was fifth in the queue to speak to a member of staff.

Another patient, Danielle Dunsdon posted on September 4 that her experience of the surgery had been "shocking."
