Ambulance crash causes long delays in Maidstone

An ambulance has crashed in to railings in Maidstone this morning (September 7).

The incident took place at the junction for Darwin Road and Sutton Road in the town.

The road was partially blocked while officers dealt with the incident.

Kent Police believe that there were no other vehicles involved and no injuries have been reported.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called at 8.20am on Tuesday (September 2), to a report an ambulance had been damaged after colliding with railings at a location next to the junction for Darwin Road and Sutton Road, Maidstone.

"No other vehicles are believed to have been involved and there were no injuries.

"Officers have attended to assist with traffic issues."

Traffic website Inrix updated drivers at midday saying: "274 Sutton Road in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident at Darwin Avenue."
