Orpington stabbing: Man injured as police recover baseball bats, sword and a machete

Several weapons were recovered by police after a reported stabbing in Orpington.

Two baseball bats, a sword and a machete were picked up by officers after the victim was knifed in the leg in Longbury Drive at around 4.30pm today (August 30).

He was taken to a South London hospital where police are waiting for an update on his condition.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken to South London police stations.

Some witnesses reported seeing men jump into gardens, and police issued advice not to engage with the men but to call 999 instead.

A Section 60 has been in place until 4.55am tomorrow (August 31) to allow police further stop and search powers.

The wards of Cray East, Cray West, Farnborough, Petts Wood, Chelsfield and Pratts Bottom are affected.

Borough Neighbourhoods Inspector Stuart Baker said: "We will continue to take robust action on violent criminals and those who seek to do harm."
