Residents in Ramsgate need not worry when they hear air raid sirens today (August 24).
Six air raid warning sirens will play out from the Ramsgate Tunnels to commemorate the anniversary of the Ramsgate blitz.
August 24, 2021 marks 81 years since 500 bombs were dropped on Ramsgate.
In total, 31 people lost their lives during the Ramsgate blitz and members of the community are welcome to come down and listen to the siren to pay their respects.

The air raid siren will be sounding on six occasions, three warning sirens and three ‘all clear’ sirens.
The three warning sirens will sound at 10.10am, 11.25am and 12.45pm.
The three all clear sirens will sound at 11.10am, 12.20pm and 5.35pm.
These times match three of the raids experienced on August 24th, 1940.
The Ramsgate Blitz was just one part of the German bombing campaign against the United Kingdom in 1940 and 1941.
