A warning has been issued to Tesco shoppers stating they have a limited time to spend Clubcard vouchers.

The supermarket's Clubcard loyalty scheme allows customers to collect points which are then turned into vouchers to spend in store.

The scheme has been very popular among shoppers.

However, a large number of coupons are set to expire on August 31, which is the last day shoppers will be able to use them, as Liverpool Echo reports.

According to the Mirror, these vouchers were due to run out in February this year, but the use-by date was extended by Tesco and an extra six months were added due to the COVID pandemic.

The Clubcard vouchers generally have a two-year expiry period.

Anyone who is unsure about when their coupon will run out can check in store to ensure they don't miss out.

Each point equates to 1p which can then be spent at Tesco, therefore anyone with 500 points will receive a £5 Clubcard voucher.

These are automatically sent out by Tesco four times a year, provided you have at least 150 points.

Shoppers are awarded with one point for every £1 they spend in Tesco as well as using the online service.

You can also receive one point for spending £2 on fuel, and points can also be collected through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile.

According to MoneySavingExpert.com, you could potentially increase the value of your points by swapping them to use at a Rewards Partner.

This means that in theory, you could spend your points in chains such as Bella Italia, Café Rouge, Pizza Express, Prezzo and Zizzi.
