Man in his 30s dies following A299 Thanet Way ‘incident’ near Herne Bay

A man in his 30s has died following a police incident on the Thanet Way this morning (August 24).

Kent Police say they were called to Bullockstone Road near Herne Bay shortly after 6:30am.

Officers attended the scene following ‘concern for a man’ and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The A299 Thanet Way was closed in both directions for a couple of hours while police dealt with the incident but it has now fully reopened.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and look for alternative routes at the time.

A full statement said: ”Kent Police was called to Bullockstone Road near Herne Bay at 6.35am on Tuesday 24 August 2021 following concern for a man.

Traffic was slow on the A299 this morning (August 24)

"Officers attended and a man in his 30s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

"The A299 Thanet Way was closed while the incident was responded to but has since reopened."
