A299 Thanet Way has been shut by police following concern for a man this morning (August 24).
Officers were called to Bullockstone Road near Herne Bay shortly after 6.30am.
The road remains closed in both directions between the junctions with Clapham Hill at Whitstable and the junction with the A291 at Herne Bay.
Traffic is slow in the area between Whitstable and Herne Bay.

Traffic building in Whitstable
With the Thanet Way closed in both directions there are now long delays in the surrounding areas.
Roads through Whitstable are showing up as extremely busy as drivers look for an alternative route.

Traffic is queuing
Traffic information service Inrix reports:
A299 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to police incident between A290 Clapham Hill (Whitstable) and A291 Canterbury Road (Herne Bay Junction, Herne Bay).
Traffic slow along Thanet Way between Whitstable and Herne Bay with traffic avoiding the problems.
A Kent Police spokesperson said:
Kent Police was called to Bullockstone Road near Herne Bay at 6.35am on Tuesday 24 August 2021 following concern for a man.
Officers are in attendance and A299 Thanet Way is currently closed in both directions between the junctions with Clapham Hill at Whitstable and the junction with the A291 at Herne Bay.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternatives routes where possible.
