Latest Kent COVID figures as cases surge in Thanet, Gravesham and Tunbridge Wells

The latest COVID figures show cases are on the rise across Kent.

Of the 12 local authorities shown under the government's figures, there has been an increase in COVID cases in eight of these areas.

639 new COVID cases were recorded in Thanet, which was the area with the biggest rise of cases from the week leading up to August 19.

On the other hand, the number of cases recorded in Dartford, Folkestone and Hythe, Dover and Medway declined compared to data from the week building up to August 12.

The latter is the area with the lowest rate of new cases, standing at 233.9, with Maidstone falling just behind with 236.2.
