Kent weather: Whitstable roads completely flooded after intense thunderstorm

Roads in Whitstable have become completely flooded after a deluge of rain.

A thunderstorm this morning (August 21) led to very heavy rain with some roads becoming impassable.

Nick Ward, 48, a local resident, who recorded the footage, has lived in Whitstable all his life and says he has never seen flooding that severe set in so quickly.

Mr Ward told KentLive: "It was very, very heavy rain, with incredibly bright sheet lightning and very loud claps of house-shaking thunder.

"On a few occasions the thunder was so loud it set off car and house alarms and made all our electrics flicker."
