Man arrested after dad dies in crash near Tunbridge Wells

A 76-year-old man is in police custody after a Dartford dad died in a four-car smash.

Police were called to the A267 at Frant in East Sussex near Tunbridge Wells yesterday (August 18).

A 36-year-old man died at the scene.

A two-year-old boy remains in King’s College Hospital in London after sustaining serious injuries.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police have been working to trace the driver of one of the vehicles involved and on Thursday (August 19) arrested a 76-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and for failing to stop after a road accident.

"He is currently in police custody."

Sussex Police is urging any witnesses – or anyone who may have captured either of the vehicles in the area on dash cam – to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Utility.
