A brand new restaurant which will provide a major boost to the local hospitality industry will be opening its doors in Folkestone later this year.

Anne’s Restaurant has been set up by Folkestone College on the corner of its campus in Shorncliffe Road, and will provide training opportunities for aspiring chefs and front of house professionals, as well as 22 jobs for locals.

The EKC Group, which runs Folkestone College, has already seen success with its four star Broadstairs hotel and restaurant, The Yarrow, which provides Thanet students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a commercial setting alongside professional staff.

For students studying catering and hospitality in Folkestone College, the new restaurant, named after the group’s recently retired deputy chief executive Anne Leese, will help to strengthen the link between college-based learning and the hospitality industry.

Anne’s Restaurant general manager Steven Hayes said: “I am very proud to be building a team in preparation for Anne’s launch later this year.

“My team and I are excited to help inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals and give them the best start to their futures.

“We can’t wait to welcome the community through our doors and share our delicious new menu.”

Construction on the building has been under way for some months, but it is now in the final stages of development and is due to open its doors this year.

EKC Group says Anne’s Restaurant will offer a “relaxed fine dining experience in a cosy contemporary setting”.

It is the latest addition to the group’s commercial services portfolio, which also includes the Sports Centre at Canterbury College and a number of local nurseries, salons and community cafes across east Kent.
