Drivers have been warned to expect delays on the A299 this afternoon (August 16) after a serious crash.
The Eastbound Thanet Way is blocked after the accident in Herne Bay.
Initially the road was closed in both directions, causing serious tailbacks, but one side has reopened.
Traffic is queueing from the A291 Canterbury Road (Herne Bay junction) to Potten Street Road (Hedgend Industrial Estate turn off).

The accident happened around 2.30pm and the westbound carriageway reopened just after 2.40pm.
Some traffic reports are saying the closure has been extended.
It is not yet clear if anyone is injured but Kent Police has been contacted for more information.

Seek alternative routes
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called to a collision between a lorry and a car on the eastbound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way between Herne Bay and St Nicholas-at-Wade shortly after 1.45pm on Monday 16 August 2021.
"Officers are currently in attendance along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
"The eastbound carriageway is currently closed while the incident is responded to and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes where possible."
Where is the crash?
Closed for 'several hours'
Drivers have been warned the road is expected to remain shut for "several hours".
'Car and a lorry'
There are unconfirmed reports the crash was between a car and a lorry.
It is not yet clear if anyone has been injured or how badly.
One side reopened
Initially Kent Police said: "The A299 Thanet Way is closed in both directions between Herne Bay and St Nicholas-at-Wade while emergency services respond to a collision.
"Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes where possible."
But the force has recently issued an update to say: "The London-bound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way has now reopened.
"The eastbound carriageway remains closed between Herne Bay and St Nicholas-at-Wade."
