All traffic has been temporarily held and traffic is stationary due to an incident on the M25 clockwise at the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.

Traffic was halted at 2.55pm today (August 4) after a van caught fire.

Initial reports indicate the van is currently ablaze in lane one, with all clockwise traffic stationary as teams respond to the incident.

Tailbacks stretch from junction 31 at the A1306 in Essex as far back as junction 29, according to traffic cameras.

Plumes of smoke have been spotted rising from the scene of the incident.

Both Kent and Essex Police have been contacted for more details.

Traffic queues growing

Delays are growing on the M25 as clockwise traffic is still at a standstill.

The van fire has caused a complete temporary closure of the QE2 bridge.

Images from traffic cameras show the extent of the delays, with standstill traffic stretching back to Junction 21 at Romford.

The queues stretch back several miles.
