COVID infection rates continue to surge in Canterbury and Thanet

Infection rates continue to rise in Canterbury and Thanet, as cases plummet across the rest of the county.

COVID is spreading fastest in Thanet, having recorded a 14 per cent increase, whereas Canterbury has seen a marginal rise of four per cent.

Medway and Dartford are the only areas above the national average, which currently stands at 279.5.

However within each district, COVID is spreading faster than average in a total of 55 neighbourhoods.

Folkestone and Hythe remains the least infected area, where the latest rate is 162.8, down by 27 per cent compared to the previous week.

In the seven days to July 30, 4,440 new cases of COVID were recorded in total across Kent.
