A man was found dead at Sunny Sands beach in Folkestone this morning (August 1).

Kent Police and emergency services were called to the scene at 8.23am after a member of the public reported discovering a man's body.

The beach was cordoned off while emergency crews investigated.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called at 8.23am on Sunday 1 August 2021 after a member of the public found the body of a man in The Promenade, Folkestone.

"The man, who was in his 30s and from the Maidstone area, was declared deceased at the scene.

"No suspicious circumstances have been identified and officers will prepare a report for the coroner."
