Traffic is being held and queues are starting to build.
The road has been closed since 11:00am to attend to the accident, which happened between junctions 2 and 3 on the clockwise carriageway.
Traffic cameras show a fire engine and several ambulances in attendance.

Update: three in hospital, but injuries not serious
Kent Police have issued the following statement on the incident:
Kent Police was called at 10.45am on Thursday 29 July 2021 regarding a collision involving three vehicles on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between junctions 2 and 3.
Officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene where three people were treated for injuries that are not described as serious.
All three have been taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.
The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and one lane remains closed while arrangements are made to recover the vehicles.
Update: Two vehicles, not three, involved in incident.
An update indicates that initial reports of three cars being involved in the crash may have been inaccurate.
It is now being reported that only two cars were involved in the collision.
Traffic appears to be moving more freely in spite of one lane remaining closed.
Delays stretch to Lakeside shopping centre
The incident between the Darenth and Swanley interchanges on the M25 clockwise has been cleared, but delays are still to be expected.
Tailbacks stretch from the Darenth Interchange (J2) across the Dartford Bridge, to Lakeside Shopping Centre in Grays, Essex.
