Traffic held on the Thanet Way after cows escape nearby farm

Drivers are facing delays on the A299 this morning (July 24) after multiple cows escaped from a nearby farm.

All traffic was held on the westbound carriageway between Whitstable and Faversham shortly after 10:30 am.

Emergency services attended the scene to deal with the cows which are thought to have escaped from a farm close to the road.

Motorists are facing delays of half an hour as traffic begins to clear.

The road was reopened at 11:00 am after the fire brigade dealt with the incident.

Reports on social media suggested that those stuck in the traffic were getting out of their cars.
