The body of a man has been pulled from the water in Maidstone.

Kent Police were called at around 4.40pm yesterday (July 9) to concern for a man seen in the River Medway.

Officers attended the scene, alongside Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent Search and Rescue and the South East Coast Ambulance, where the body was recovered.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Emergency response vehicles had been sighted close to House of Fraser.

A footpath near the scene was taped off, whilst a helicopter assisted, spotted circling the skies above the town.
