Kent surgery asks patients to rebook appointments after staff contract COVID

A medical centre in Maidstone has urged its patients to consider rebooking appointments.

Four GPs and clinicians at The Vine Medical Centre are unable to work due to having to self-isolate after contracting Coronavirus or suffering another illness.

The centre also told its patients to only contact the practice for an emergency appointment if there is a "genuine on-the-day emergency".

Patients have been alerted they may be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

Last month a GP surgery in Tunbridge Wells declared it was struggling to cope with patient backlog due to the pandemic.

Doctors are also said to be working harder than ever before, elongating their days to fit all necessary work in.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, The Vine Medical Centre said: "We currently have four GPs/clinicians who are unable to work due to having to self-isolate because of Coronavirus and sickness.

"Please only contact the Practice to obtain an emergency appointment if you have a genuine on-the-day emergency.

"Patients with routine booked appointments may be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

"Thank you for your understanding."
