A total 18 suspected asylum seekers were found inside a lorry on board a ferry, initial media reports say.
It is believed that they were on a DFDS ship today and nine were taken to hospital as a precaution.
A police spokesman told Kent Online: “Kent Police was called to the Port of Dover shortly before midday today.
“This was to assist Home Office immigration enforcement and Port of Dover Police following a report that suspected migrants had arrived on a vessel.”
Kent Online has contacted DFDS, the Port of Dover and the Home Office for further details.
