Serious crash brings M2 to a standstill on both sides – live updates

All traffic is currently being held in both directions on the M2 following a serious accident this afternoon (June 13).

The incident took place on the eastbound carriageway between J2 for Stood and J3 for Chatham.

Long queues and delays are forming as emergency services deal with the incident.

Traffic was held shortly after 4pm with motorists now being advised to allow for extra time as well as take alternative routes.

The roads are likely to be busy tonight as families head home after a weekend by the coast.

However those using the M2 should expect delays.

Update on M2 at 5pm

There is still queueing traffic due to earlier accident involving two cars involved on M2.

Queues formed in both directions from J2 A228 Sundridge Hill (Strood / Rochester) to J3 (Chatham / Rochester).

All lanes have been re-opened but there are still delays as traffic moves through
Originally reported four car accident. All traffic was held both sides of the carriageway for around 20 minutes. All lanes re-opened both sides at around 16:35.

What is the current situation on the M2?

There is queueing traffic in both directions due to an earlier accident which involved two cars.

Queues are stretching from J2 A228 Sundridge Hill (Strood / Rochester) to J3 (Chatham / Rochester).

Delays are stretching back as the busy Sunday traffic builds.
