Yankee the police dog finds suspected drink-driver in St Radigund’s Dover

A police dog rooted out a suspect after he fled from his car on foot.

Yankee tracked the man who was hiding in overgrowth under a tree and he was arrested.

The German Shepherd and his handler were called out at 11.45pm last night after at motorist had failed to stop for police.

The man, aged 26, had been seem driving in Coombe Valley Road, Dover.

Patrols had tried to stop him due to concerns of drink driving but he reportedly took off at high speed.

Yankee and his Police Constable handler searched the area of St Radigunds, where the suspect was believed to be on foot near Victoria Street after dumping the car..

Yankee tracked the man to the grounds of a business premises at the junction of London Road and Coombe Valley Road.

He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
