Drivers approaching the Dartford Crossing from Kent are facing serious delays.

There are hour long delays on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 between junction 3 at Swanley and the QEII bridge this afternoon (May 28).

Many motorists will be using the crossing this afternoon as the Bank Holiday weekend and half term breaks begin.

There hasn’t been an accident and instead the sheer volume of traffic is leading to congestion.

Earlier in the day, a crash on the clockwise carriageway led to all traffic being temporarily held.

There were also delays of over an hour between junction 8 and junction 15 in Surrey, at around midday.

An easing of coronavirus restrictions means people are no longer told by the Government to ‘stay at home’, with a slight lifting of limits of social contact.

For many families, this will be the first weekend they have seen friends and family for more than a year.
