It's official – the Dartford Crossing is the worst thing you can do in Kent.
To the surprise of some, the road between Kent and Essex is actually listed as an "attraction" on TripAdvisor.
Even more amazingly, a few people seem to rate it as a good one.
"It's sheer class, in my view," said user Marx H. "Especially the bridge."

"I love going over this fantastic bridge," said Annie P.
"It's well worth the price you have to pay. You can see for miles."
These positive reviews were enough to drag the Dartford Crossing to the less than lofty heights of two stars out of five as an experience.
Which still makes it comfortably the worst rated attraction, at least out of those with a high number of reviews.
More than half of the 435 reviews rated the Dartford Crossing just one star – or "terrible".
Some said the charge was supposed to be removed years ago.
Others said the move away from the toll booth system to online payment had inconceivably made a bad crossing even worse.
Many were less than savoury about those who collect the penalty charge payments, calling them "charlatans and vagabonds".
Below we've detailed the most hilariously livid comments about the Dartford Crossing – officially the very worst thing you can do in Kent.
'The bane of my life'
This is the worst place I have ever visited, ever.
And yet I keep coming back every day, twice a day in fact.
This place is an embarrassment to traffic management.
I have literally lost count of the hours I have absolutely wasted at this atrocious crossing over the last 10 years of using it.
Absolutely disgusting place.
'It's a road, it goes over the Thames'
I lived near here when it was built.
You can see the bridge from the surrounding area on both sides of the river, and it looks quite impressive, but frankly, it's a road over the river, it's part of the M25 and you're not on it for long enough to take in the river, unless of course it's rush hour, in which case the last thing on your mind is the river.
You'd have to have very niche interests if you were travelling to either see or use this bridge specifically.

'Paid to sit in traffic'
Absolutely ridiculous. £5 for what?!
I've just come back from France and what an absolute shambles our country is.
'So bad I moved'
I moved to Dartford five years ago when the traffic wasn’t too bad.
Since they replaced the toll booths it’s been progressively getting worse, with Bob Dunn Way stuffed most evenings.
With the completion of the bridge bringing more housing to the area, I got to the point where I was so fed up not being able to get home each night, and then being a prisoner on the estate in the evenings, I sold up and moved out in July 2019.
It’s probably one of the most ill thought out “improvements” known to mankind.
'Hell on earth'
This location is like hell on earth.
It's costly and is only surpassed by the stupidity of people who cannot drive in a straight line at low speeds or even 0 mph.
Avoid at all costs for your own sanity.
'Pay quick or get shafted'
The payment system is designed to catch drivers out.
There's no option to pay immediately on the crossing, and you're given until midnight the next day to pay.
If it slips your mind – bam! – you get hit with a penalty charge notice for 15 times the price of the crossing, at a minimum.
I paid a day late, as a responsible (though forgetful) motorist in good faith, and received a penalty in the post two weeks later.
The person taking my fee over the phone declared she thought it was really great and started an argument.
Maybe next time I'll drive 115 miles round the other way. It would be less expensive.
'Good bridge, bad hidden charges'
Lots of hidden charges. Not enough lorries. Too many cars. Some cables, mostly too taut.
My daughter ‘Dart’ was conceived here.
Great bridge, better daughter.
'Worst road ever'
I’ve travelled from the Italian alps through France and the only traffic that I have encountered is approaching the Dartford tunnel in the UK.
It’s embarrassing to us and a pain in the backside.
Why do we pay for the worst road in the UK?
They should pay us to get on it.
The tunnel side heading northbound is the worst piece of road I have ever encountered.
I have been through this countless times and I would say 95 per cent of the time I am stuck in a 4+ mile long queue for at least 45 minutes.
Not being in an automatic car, my clutch leg is in pain by the time I reach the other side.
I have wasted who knows how much petrol just crawling along in 1st and 2nd gear (if I'm lucky).
And after all that I have to pay £2.50 for the privilege.
What pains me the most is seeing motorcyclists weave through the traffic and they get to go through the tunnel for free, which is a joke.
All in all, I'm surprised this is averaging 2 stars to be honest.
