St Johnstone completed a remarkable cup double in Scotland at the weekend and a former Dover schoolboy helped make it happen.

The Scottish Premiership club completed a domestic double as a 1-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday added the Scottish FA Cup to their earlier League Cup success.

Dover-born right-back James Brown – a former Gillingham junior – came off the bench in the weekend victory in what was his seventh appearance on loan for the team.

Brown has been a professional at Millwall since 2016 but is now searching for a new club after being named on the list of those being released by the Championship side this summer.

Loans at Livingstone and Lincoln came before a move to St Johnstone in January, starting his first match with them away at Rangers. Brown was an unused substitute in the League Cup final win over Livi at Hampden Park at the end of February.

He got a run-out in the FA Cup final, however, coming off the bench in the 79th minute to ensure the Saints hung onto their slender advantage to complete a best-ever season for the club, who also finished fifth in the table to claim a European spot.
