A new study has named Canterbury as the most expensive place to buy a pint in the UK outside of London.
Pubs across the country have been closed for large periods of the last year so many will be desperate to get back out for a drink.
But when you visit one of Canterbury’s many great pubs you may have to fork out a larger sum than expected for a much needed pint.
A study by Money.co.uk found that the average price of a pint in the city is a staggering £4.80.
Only in London would you expect to pay more, with the average price in the capital just 20p more than in Canterbury.
Somewhat surprisingly, a pint in Canterbury costs more than in Edinburgh, Cambridge, Bristol and Belfast.
Canterbury is home to two Wetherspoon pubs at either end of the high-street, an array of bars down the main shopping strip and dozens of traditional pubs dotted around the outskirts.
While it may be a vibrant university city I think we all agree it has something for everyone.
Elsewhere, Sevenoaks was named the fourth most expensive place to buy a pint in the country – coming in at £4.50.
The data comes from Numbeo, which estimates the cost of living in thousands of cities across the world.
