A primary schoolboy has raised £500 for charity by getting his fellow pupils to dress in blue for a day.

Charlie Drake did this for the Alzheimer’s Society as he helps care for his great-grandmother who has the disease.

The youngsters at St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Dover also donated to Charlie’s collection bucket.

Charlie also spoke to the children about his great-nan, Barbara Drake.

It turned out there were many who also had relatives suffering with Alzheimer’s.

When it is safe from coronavirus to do so these children are going to form a school support group.

Charlie, a Year 5 boy, is a carer for Barbara with his mother Hailey Drake.

“There are good and bad moments in Alzheimer’s. Every day is different, as our family was quick to learn.”
