After five weeks of sitting outside and braving the weather, another significant easing of coronavirus restrictions will see indoor hospitality reopen across the country.

From today, May 17, pubs and restaurants will be able to reopen indoors, with cinemas and hotels also able to open.

This is the third stage on the roadmap out of lockdown – a path which could see all restrictions lifted by June 21.

More social contact will be allowed from today with six people or two households able to meet indoors for the first time since Christmas.

The easing of restrictions is going ahead as planned – despite a rise in the number of Indian variant cases.

It's great to be open. Even to have some seats back inside and outside is better than nothing. Everyone is just glad to be back inside.
