A man has died in a light aircraft crash in a field this afternoon.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called, along with other emergency services, to reports of a light aircraft crash in a field near Headcorn aerodrome between Ashford and Maidstone.
Emergency services were called just before 4.30pm (May 9), two fire engines were sent to the incident, crews worked with colleagues from SECAmb, Kent Police, KSS Air Ambulance and the on-site fire and rescue response.
Police have confirmed a man died at the scene.
The scene has been made safe by firefighters and police are working to find out what happened.
Kent Police have issued a statement following the crash: "At 4.25pm on Sunday, May 9, 2021, Kent Police was notified that a light aircraft had crashed in a field near Headcorn.
"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and an air ambulance.
"A man was pronounced deceased at the scene."
