Behind the scenes pictures show crews filming Danny Boyle's new Sex Pistols series in Dover
The Slumdog Millionaire director has brought his production to The Citadel on the Western Heights
New behind-the-scenes images from the set of Pistol show filming of Danny Boyle's new Sex Pistols series is in full swing.
Based on the 2018 memoir of Steve Jones, the series is expected to take the form of a biopic of Jones' early years, and how he ended up joining the world-famous punk rock outfit.
With cast members from smash hits Queen's Gambit and Game of Thrones, the prospect of an in-depth look back at the formation of one of the UK's most important cultural and musical icons of the last 50 years is tantalising.
It doesn't look like we'll have to wait too long to see the finished product either, as filming has begun across Kent in Folkestone, Deal and Dover this week.
Much of the newly snapped shots show scenes that appear to be reflecting Steve Jones' early life and tangles with the law.
For filming The Citadel, on the Western Heights in Dover, has been converted into a 1970s prison set, standing in for Ashford Remand Centre, a former young offenders unit at the site of HMP Bronzefield.
Jones has gone on record that the Sex Pistols likely saved him from a life of crime and continuing the near-inescapable cycle of reoffending, meaning these early backstage sneak-peaks may feature some of the upcoming show's most charged and pivotal moments.
With more sure to come as the filming process continues, it appears Kent will play host to a busy, exciting film set for the next few weeks – so keep your eyes peeled for film crews and stars of TV and Film dotted around the east coast.
