Police remain in Aylesham this morning (April 28) as they continue their investigations in to the death of a woman.

Kent Police say they were called to Aylesham Road area of Snowdown shortly after 4pm on Tuesday (April 27).

Pictures from the scene later that evening revealed the scale of the police operation taking place.

Fire crews and forensics teams joined dozens of officers as they continued with their investigation in to the death.

Police have currently not ruled out suspicious circumstances following the death of the woman.

In a statement issued to KentLive on Tuesday, Kent Police confirmed it was trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The full statement said: "Kent Police was called at around 4.10pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021 following the death of a woman in the Aylesham Road area of Snowdown.

The investigation continued into Wednesday morning (April 28) after police were initially called on Tuesday (April 27)

"Officers are currently at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

After being contacted again this morning, Kent Police confirmed there were no further updates on the investigation.

Leah Southwell, 18 describes the scene she saw on Aylesham Road yesterday afternoon.

She said: "The whole road was swarmed with police.

"Last night about 10 o'clock, I looked out my window and there were sirens, blue lights all down my road.

"Fourish, there were two vans, a little van and a squad car, and there was a fire engine as well."

"Nothing ever happens around here.

"It's just shocking to be honest."
