Huge fire breaks out on train in Sevenoaks – live updates

Crews are working to contain a fire on a freight train between Sevenoaks and Dunton Green.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has urged people in the area to close windows and doors this morning (April 23) due to the smoke plume, and to avoid the area if possible.

All trains between Orpington and Sevenoaks have been suspended as the power has been switched off on the lines at Dunton Green, affecting Southeastern and Thameslink services.

Smoke has been seen billowing in the sky in Dunton Green.

Rail replacement buses are currently running.

At 5.29am this morning (April 23), Southeastern confirmed that trains could not run between Orpington and Sevenoaks due to a 'problem' with a freight train.

All services between Orpington / Swanley and Sevenoaks are now suspended.
