Huge plumes of smoke have been seen across parts of Dunton Green and Sevenoaks.

A freight train caught fire while on the track between the train station earlier today, with train services between Orpington and Sevenoaks first suspended at around 5.30am today (April 23).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue crews are at the scene working to contain the fire, and have urged anyone nearby to keep their windows and doors closed and to avoid the area.

Footage taken from near the tracks shows bright, tall flames visible from over a hedge, while tall plumes of smoke fill the air.

Other residents in Dunton Green have also shared snaps of the flames and smoke clearly visible from their homes.

Smoke can be seen billowing out from the fire and into the sky.

The power to the train lines at Sevenoaks and Dunton Green was turned off shortly after services were first suspended.

Network Rail has now said that services will be disrupted until at least noon.
