The number of symptomatic coronavirus cases in Kent is now estimated to be below 1,000.
The ZOE symptom study app suggests that there were 909 active cases in Kent and Medway at 5am on March 25.
It’s the lowest estimation of cases in Kent in almost half a year as the impact of restrictions and vaccinations continues to be evident in the data.
Back in December the number of cases in the county was estimated to be more than 14,000 as Kent was hit particularly hard by the ‘Kent Variant’ of COVID.

It’s understood that infections in Kent peaked around the turn of the year and have been falling ever since.
While some districts have recorded small increases in the government data, the hospitalisations and deaths continue to fall across the county.
Speaking last week, Director of Public Health in Kent Andrew Scott-Clark urged caution as lockdown restrictions are eased.
He said: “It is, of course, very encouraging that the number of COVID-19 infections in communities across Kent is continuing to fall and that fewer people are now testing positive for the virus.”
“However, I cannot stress strongly enough that we need to approach the unlocking of restrictions slowly and cautiously to avoid another surge in cases.”
The data from the ZOE symptom study estimated that Sevenoaks has the fewest number of active cases with just 36.
Only two districts are thought to have above 100 – both Medway (108) and Tunbridge Wells (149)
